Ever wonder how it is that dancers can learn all those steps, combinations and movements – and then perform them, at times in unison, without a score or notes to follow?  

Listen as dancers speak candidly about the struggles and challenges they face when learning new choreography and hear them describe the techniques that help them.  You may be surprised to hear how insightful they are about their own strengths and weaknesses, as well the range of approaches used by dancers as they absorb complex information and turn it into beautiful movement.

This is the second of a series devoted to revealing the world of the professional dancer to the general public.  In 2010 I interviewed dancers about how they came to center their lives around dance, their social environment and the distinct experiences of boys and girls entering into the world of ballet.  Those interviews, primarily in Danish, can be found below
