Sixty years have passed since the New York City Ballet last appeared at the Royal Danish Theatre, but now the company is finally back in Copenhagen.

The New York City Ballet will stage two mixed programs – a Balanchine program and a modern program – that each highlight signature works and new creations that seek to establish its position as a world leading company with Danish audiences.

Artistic Director Nikolaj Hübbe takes special pleasure in welcoming the New York City Ballet, a company with which he performed as principal dancer for 16 years:

“I’ve invited the New York City Ballet to the Royal Danish Theatre because it is one of the world’s most seminal and influential ballet companies. Their style of dancing is altogether distinct and they master a brilliant ballet tradition, which artistic director Peter Martins has nurtured with great artistic skill and insight. Additionally, the company is home to some of the finest and most superb dancers.”
