La Traviata

La Traviata

A visit from the Danish National Opera

Verdi’s master piece, La Traviata, is one of the most beautiful operas ever written with Violetta Valéry as one of the opera repertoire’s greatest heroines.

The beautiful and charismatic prostitute Violetta Valéry from Paris is facing one of life’s landmark choices: Money or love? Violetta choses love and falls in love with her young admirer, Alfredo Germont, but her decision turns out to have dire consequences.

The Danish National Opera’s new production of La Traviata is directed by Lothar Krause, one of Germany’s most talented, young directors. With conductor Tecwyn Evans, Krause is responsible for bringing this beautiful, intense drama to life. While this production marks the debut at the Danish National Opera for Lothar Krause, conductor Tecwyn Evans is a well known face at the National Opera: In 2016 he conducted Madama Butterfly, and in the spring of 2017 he conducted the production 70 Years of Opera, both of which visited the Royal Danish Theatre.

La Traviata is performed in Italian with Danish surtitles.
