Prokofiev, Mussorgsky & Shostakovich

Prokofiev, Mussorgsky & Shostakovich

Symphony Concert #3

This production is no longer available - see our current repertoire here.

Three masterpieces. Three destinies. Three composers in shadow of a totalitarian regime. One Royal Danish Orchestra. One legendary conductor. One evening in the best musical company.

Prokofyev fled from the chaos of the Russian Revolution. He returned when his American dream collapsed and the Motherland called with golden promises.

Mussorgsky lived his life before the Revolution put an end to the old empire. But his music lived on and found its place among the favourites of the Sovjet regime – and of Disney.

Shostakovich was the darling of the Soviet Motherland. But everything tumbled around him when Stalin started his cultural revolution. He spent the rest of his life under the ever-watchful eye of the regime.
