Renowned for the “great lightness and clarity” of her Mozart (Deutschlandradio Kultur), British conductor Julia Jones returns to Royal Danish Opera for Don Giovanni, following her house debut in 2020 with Idomeneo. She recently made her debut at Bregenz Festival (Rigoletto) and is looking forward to further returns to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (previously: Die Zauberflöte and Così fan tutte), and Oper Frankfurt (previously: Idomeneo, Falstaff, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, La damnation de Faust).
Other relationships and highlights include Royal Swedish Opera (Aida), Den Norske Opera (La traviata, Der fliegende Holländer), Wiener Staatsoper (La bohème, Così fan tutte, Die Zauberflöte), Semperoper Dresden (Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Die Zauberflöte, Idomeneo), Staatsoper Berlin (Otello, Aida, Le nozze di Figaro), Hamburgische Staatsoper (Idomeneo, Otello) , Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux (Madama Butterfly, Bluebeard’s Castle), Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Lohengrin, Macbeth) and the Salzburg Festival (Die Entführung aus dem Serail).
She has been Chief Conductor at Theater Basel (1998-2002) and General Music Director in both Lisbon (2008-2011) and Wuppertal (2016-2021), where highlights of her final season have included La traviata and Il barbiere di Siviglia, as well as symphonic concerts and recordings.
