Corpus Special: Bobbi Jene Day

Please notice that the show will take place in A-salen, Tordenskjoldsgade 10.
Corpus invites you to Bobbi Jene day at the Royal Danish Theatre.

The documentary about Bobbi Jene is running right now in Danish cinemas receiving enthusiastic reviews and impressing the audience.

Corpus has invited Bobbi Jene to create a performance premiering in February 2019 and in June Bobbi visits The Royal Theatre to start rehearsals. We saw an opportunity to give you a whole day in her universe.

We start the day with a Gaga/people Class led by Bobbi Jene. Gaga is the movement base that Bobbi Jene works from, and Gaga/people class is structured in a way so everyone can participate – regardless of dancing skills. It is an individual body experience and it´s a lot of fun!

We continue the day with an open rehearsal with Bobbi Jene and Corpus, that offers a unique sneak peak into the creative process. We end the day with a special showing of the documentary Bobbi Jene and an art talk between Bobbi Jene and Corpus’ Artistic Director, Tim Matiakis.

About Gaga/people class

Gaga is the movement language developed by Ohad Naharin throughout many years, parallel to his work as a choreographer and the artistic director of Batsheva Dance Company.  Gaga originated from Naharin’s need to communicate with his dancers and his curiosity in the ongoing research of movement.

Gaga/people classes are open to people ages 16+, regardless of their background in dance or movement. No previous dance experience is needed.
Gaga/people classes last for one hour and are taught by dancers who have worked closely with Ohad Naharin. Teachers guide the participants using a series of evocative instructions that build one on top of the other.

Gaga/people classes offer a creative framework for participants to connect to their bodies and imaginations, increase their physical awareness, improve their flexibility and stamina, and experience the pleasure of movement in a welcoming, accepting atmosphere.
Participants should wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to dance barefoot or in socks. It is advisable to bring a bottle of water and a towel for use after class.
