The Forgotten Children

The Forgotten Children

With The Forgotten Children we for the first time present a ballet based on a new story by one of Denmark’s funniest and most unruly children’s author, Kim Fupz Aakeson, in collaboration with the talented choreographer, Gregory Dean.

A perfectly normal girl, who loves ballet, is dancing in front of a mirror. But something about the mirror image is not quite as it should be. Maybe she is not alone? The girl crawls into the mirror and suddenly finds herself in the Underworld of the Theatre. This is where the story begins.

Kim Fupz Aakeson’s story about the fearless and curious girl introduces you to an evil thief of children, a group of cool cats, cheeky mice and ghost-children – lots and lots of ghost-children. Who are they? And what do they want?

The choreography is created by Gregory Dean, solo dancer at the Royal Danish Ballet and with the ability to create interesting and big moves – even for small feet! The music is by the young composer Matias Vestergård Hansen.

The Forgotten Children is an exciting, new fairy tale performed by students at the Royal Danish Ballet School. It is a colourful and silly piece, which we recommend to all brave boys and girls from the age of four and up.
