Mozart’s beloved fairy tale opera is back at the Royal Danish Opera House.
Internationally acclaimed director Marco Arturo Marelli's colourful interpretation of Die Zauberflöte, which he created for the 10th anniversary of the Opera House in 2015, returns with a strong cast.
Henning von Schulman and Petri Lindroos add vocal depth to Sarastro, the Royal Danish Opera’s star sopranos, Sine Bundgaard and Gisela Stille, give life to Pamina, while the part of the unruly but loveable Papageno is shared by Palle Knudsen and the newest member of the Opera’s ensemble, Simon Duus.
Die Zauberflöte is and has always been one of Mozart’s greatest operas. The story alternates between gravity and playfulness, fairy tale and drama, while the music gives us one opera hit after another. It is indeed hard to leave a performance of Die Zauberflöte without a smile and a happy tune on your lips.
Die Zauberflöte is performed in German with Danish surtitles.
