L’elisir d’amore
L’elisir d’amore
A visit from the Danish National Opera
In Donizetti’s romantic comedy, the unhappy and shy Nemorino falls head over heels in love with the beautiful and proud Adina, who – unfortunately – is in love with another man.
Nemorino’s lovemaking to Adina develops into a tragicomic affair when the beautiful young woman falls for the attractive Belcore instead. Nemorino gets one last chance to win the heart of his love, when the charlatan Doctor Dulcamara offers to sell Nemorino a magic potion, which will make him irresistible to women. But does Nemorino dare take a chance on magic in his attempt to win Adina’s love?
The young British director Harry Fehr makes his debut at the Danish National Opera when he and Swedish conductor Per-Otto Johansson create a fun and romantic version of the classic opera.
L’elisir d’amore is performed in Italian with Danish surtitles.
